NMC

NMC Recordings is an award-winning new music charity dedicated to recording and releasing contemporary classical music by UK and Irish composers. Founded by composer Colin Matthews OBE in 1988, its mission is to champion new classical music in its recorded form and support the next generation of composers and listeners. As an Arts Council England National Portfolio organisation, NMC plays a vital role in the new music sector: without NMC, hundreds of important works simply would not be recorded and heard by audiences across the world. Since its first release in 1989, NMC have gone on to promote over 300 recordings, featuring the work of more than 400 composers and featuring performances by 600 leading artists and ensembles. The label’s recordings are available in 141 countries and since 2012 have received 16 million downloads and streams, and 50,000 CD sales. As a charity, sales income is reinvested into new projects.

‘The quality of releases is proof of how central NMC has become to the UK’s contemporary music infrastructure’ Gramophone
