With her debut album “Lise Davidsen “, presented in 2019, Decca presented a spectacular new discovery in the highly sought-after subject of the lyrical-dramatic soprano. Lise Davidsen is the first Scandinavian soprano since the legendary Birgit Nilsson to record for the Decca and is celebrated worldwide as one of the major voices in the Wagner and Strauss repertoire.
The repertoire selection for this release, available on vinyl for the first time, also testifies to exceptional vocal maturity. Rarely do female singers at such a young age dedicate themselves to Strauss's enchanting, epic and deeply touching “Four Last Songs”. In addition to the four orchestral songs, there are other Strauss compositions such as the Lullaby, Op. 41. No. 1 or “Es gibt ein Reich” from “Ariadne auf Naxos”, as well as two pieces from Richard Wagner's “Tannhäuser”, with Elisabeth's “Dich, expensive Halle”, and “Almighty Maiden”.
